I’ve always loved September - it’s technically still summertime but usually a lot cooler with more thunderstorms and less asphalt-melting awfulness. But, as we say goodbye to August, I have to express gratitude for the amazing experience I had with my book launch. Jillian’s Island has great reviews already, and it’s been such a joy to connect with readers and friends over this story that is so close to my heart! Now, as I continue to try to reach new readers and promote Jillian’s adventure, I’m really buckling down to write my next novel - my favorite thing to do!
As promised, my little newsletter here is meant to give you a behind-the-scenes look into writing and let you know what you can look forward to - so, here’s the scoop:
My next book is currently titled Bothered and Bewildered, and if you’re familiar with super-oldies, you might recognize the partial song title (“Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered”) and the idea for this next book is to be a creative retelling of the classic TV series, “Bewitched.” At least, that’s where I began. As I’ve done my outlining and character building, this story has morphed significantly - these people just can’t be pinned down! haha
At the end of August, I finished my fourth and (hopefully) final version of my outline and compiled the pages I’ve already written so I can, you know, whip it all together into what we like to call a book. Honestly, this is one of my favorite parts of writing a book: I have a bunch of the pieces and I can see how they’re supposed to go together and now I get to move them all around and make an amazing picture. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle which I used to hate but now find really exciting. Wait, did I just get really old?!
Because you are the special people who got coerced into being part of my newsletter list, you get the privilege of hearing about this book absolutely first! B&B is about Bridget Foster, the musician and superstar you read about in Jillian’s Island and it takes place a few months after the first book ends. Rightly traumatized from the experiences she had in the first book, she takes some time to get therapy and stuff, and then the fun begins again! Bridget is back at work and adjusting to being back in her real life. Things are just getting back to normal when, out of the blue, her estranged mother shows up with a surprise: she’s had another daughter, an 18-month-old named Evangeline, and they need Bridget’s help. Her mother has gotten herself into some trouble with some seedy characters and they need to lie low for a little while. Then, the very next day, Bridget’s mom disappears and leaves Evangeline with Bridget - without another word. Now, Bridget is the full-time guardian of a baby girl she didn’t know existed, and to make matters worse, those bad guys who were after their mom are now breathing down Bridget’s neck.
This will be a story with danger, adventure, intrigue, and, of course, romance. We’ll see the return of the handsome and charismatic NFL player, Austin Holmstead. Spoiler alert: He’s the love interest, and it’s a great story!
And for fun, here are my character inspiration pictures for my next book!
Aren’t they cute?!
I’ve got a lot of work to do, so I guess I’d better sign off of this newsletter and get back to work! Have any questions for me? Comments? Thoughts? Please send me a note - I’d love to hear from you!
xoxo,
Kimberly Webb
p.s. My 4-year-old starts preschool this month, so if you hear distant sobs … it might be my husband. haha!
